This will be the SMTX Chess Club’s 2nd Summer Classical FREE USCF-rated tournament.

Like all our events, this event is completely FREE But we rely on donations from people like you to make this possible:

WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO ALTER SECTION RATING CUT-OFFS BASED ON REGISTRATION

Cash Prizes for Championship Section:

• $80 for 1st place
• $60 for 2nd place
• Non-cash prize for 3rd place

Cash Prizes for U1800:

• $60 for 1st place
• $50 for 2nd place
• Non-cash prize for 3rd place

Cash Prizes U1400:

• $50 for 1st place
• $40 for 2nd place
• Non-cash prize for 3rd place

Cash Prizes for U1000:

• $30 for 1st place
• $20 for 2nd place
• Non-cash prize for 3rd place

Cash Prizes for U600:

• $30 for 1st place
• $20 for 2nd place
• Non-cash prize for 3rd place

In addition to the cash prizes there will trophies and other prizes in all sections.

YOU READ THAT RIGHT!! A USCF rated tournament with NO ENTRY FEE, free snacks, free frozen custard from Shake Shack and sets and clocks WILL BE provided!

While this is a completely FREE tournament, DONATIONS are always welcome and appreciated (but always optional). We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that is 100% volunteer run so we rely solely on donations to bring chess to the Central Texas Corridor.

Here are the tournament details:

• • 5 rounds. The first 2 games are at G/60; +10 and the final 3 games are at G/90;+30
  • 5 Sections: U600, U1000, U1400, U1800 and Championship.
  • “Playing up” is not allowed unless you are within 100 points of the section floor.
  • July 12th and 13th at the Goodnight Middle School at 1301 TX-123, San Marcos, TX 78666
  • Round start times:
    • Round 1: July 12th at 9:00 am (G/60;+10)
    • Round 2: July 12th at 11:45 am (G/60;+10)
    • Round 3: July 12th at 2:30 pm (G/90;+30)
    • Round 4: July 13th at 9:00 am (G/90;+30)
    • Round 5: July 13th at 1:30 pm (G/90;+30)
  • Check-in on Saturday, July 12th 8:30am-8:50am
  • USCF membership is required
  • Sets and clocks WILL be provided
  • Completely FREE with NO ENTRY FEE (donations are always welcome but always optional)
  • This tournament is limited to 120 players so don’t delay registering!
  • The first round will start promptly at 9:00am and players are highly encouraged to arrive by 8:30am.
  • Check-in will be from 8:30am to 8:50am.
  • Online registration via this REGISTRATION FORM is MANDATORY and ONSITE REGISTRATION WILL NOT BE ALLOWED
